Getting Started
Before you get started, make sure you have the following set up:
- VitaminLab connected to Jane. See our guide on How to Set Up the VitaminLab Integration if you haven't done this yet.
Instructions
To create a custom supplement formula for a patient, follow these steps. Once complete, a draft chart entry containing the formula details will appear in the patient's chart tab in Jane, ready for you to review and sign.
- Go to the Patients tab and open the patient's profile.
- Click the VitaminLab Pro tab.
- Click Create New Formula. VitaminLab opens in a new browser tab with the Formula Name field pre-filled with the patient's first and last name.
- In VitaminLab, set the supply length, dose type, and auto-refill options.
- Choose your ingredients by searching by name, browsing by health condition, or starting from a pre-built protocol.
π£ Heads up: If you want to exclude a specific ingredient due to a patient sensitivity, do this within VitaminLab's platform before completing the order. You cannot make this change from Jane.
- Click Calculate Price to see the estimated dosage and cost.
- Add dosing instructions.
- Click Buy Now to complete the order.
- Select your payment option: Invoice to Patient (the patient pays VitaminLab directly on a monthly basis, and you receive a 25% margin payment) or Invoice to Clinic (you pay wholesale upfront and invoice the patient yourself).
- Return to Jane and open the patient's chart.
π©΅ Jane Tip: VitaminLab integrates with Cell Science Systems (CSS), IGS, and Genova. If your patient has micronutrient or DNA test results from one of these labs, VitaminLab can auto-generate a formula from their results. You can also use their Upload a Test feature to upload any micronutrient test and receive a formula recommendation based on each patient's results.
What to Expect
A new draft chart entry appears in the patient's chart with the formula details and a PDF attached. Review the entry, add any additional notes, and sign it as you normally would. Each formula creates its own chart entry, so patients can have more than one active formula on file.
π©΅ Jane Tip: If your clinic has Medication Management enabled, VitaminLab formula orders will also appear in the patient's Medications tab. See our guide on Medication Management to learn more.
Important Notes
- If you edit a formula in VitaminLab after the initial sync, the existing chart entry in Jane will be updated rather than creating a new chart entry in Jane.
- Formulas can be built directly in VitaminLab from the Formulas tab. Simply search for your Jane patient and create the formula. Upon checkout, a new chart entry will be created in Jane.
- You can choose to ship formulas with VitaminLab branded pouches, or set up a private label for a one-time $100 fee.
- Private Label Bulk ordering is a separate VitaminLab product and is not part of this integration workflow.
Reordering a Formula
You can set up to 2 auto-refills when ordering a patient's formula. When a patient's supply runs out, you can reorder through VitaminLab's Order History tab. When you reorder, enter the required information and checkout as normal. When checkout is complete, a new chart entry will be created within Jane, with "Reorder" appended to the chart title.
