How to Set Up a Google Ads Conversion Action

Instructions

To set up a Google Ads conversion action for Jane's server-side Google Tag Manager integration, follow these steps. Once complete, you'll be ready to connect your conversion action to Jane.

📣 Heads up: You can only have one conversion action linked at a time in Jane.

  1. Sign in to your Google Ads account.
  2. Go to Goals > Summary.
  3. Click + Create Conversion Action.

  1. On the Choose a conversion source page, uncheck all boxes except Conversions offline.

🩵 Jane Tip: If you're prompted to select a data source, select Skip this step and set up a data source later.

  1. Click Save and continue.
  2. Under Category, select Purchase.
  3. Click + Create Conversion > Connect data source later.
  4. Click Save and continue.
  5. Click Finish.

🩵 Jane Tip: Before clicking Finish, you can click Edit Settings to rename the conversion action in Google Ads.

What to Expect

Your conversion action will appear in Goals > Summary with a status of Inactive. It will remain inactive until the first ad-click and booking is completed. Once Jane sends conversion data to Google following an ad-click, the status will update to Active.
