Getting Started

Before you can use medication favourites, Medication Management must be enabled in your Jane settings. Check out our guide on How to Enable Medication Management if you haven't done that yet.

Instructions

Medication favourites let you create a list of frequently used medications so you can add them to a patient's profile without re-entering details each time. Your favourites list is personal to you, accessible from any patient's profile, and isn't shared with other staff or across the clinic.

There are two ways to create a favourite and one way to add a favourite to a patient's profile. All three workflows start from the patient's Medications tab.

Option 1: Save a Medication as a Favourite While Adding it to a Patient's Profile

Use this option when you're adding a new medication to a patient's profile and want to save it to your favourites list at the same time.

📣 Heads up: You can only favourite a medication while you're creating it. If you've already added a medication to a patient's profile and want to save it as a favourite, you'll need to re-enter it directly in your favourites list.

  1. Open the patient's profile and select the Medications tab.
  2. Click + Add Medication.
  3. Enter the medication details.
  4. Click the star icon labelled Save to favourites at the bottom of the modal.
  5. Click Add.

What to Expect

The medication is added to the patient's profile and saved to your personal favourites list.

Option 2: Create a Favourite Directly from Your Favourites List

Use this option when you want to add a medication to your favourites list without adding it to a specific patient's profile.

  1. Open any patient's profile and select the Medications tab.
  2. Click the down arrow to the right of the + Add Medication button.
  3. Select ⭐ My Favourites.

The dropdown menu open next to the Add Medication button, showing the My Favourites option with a star icon.

  1. Click + Add New Favourite.
  2. Enter the medication details and click Add.

What to Expect

The medication is saved to your personal favourites list. It is not added to the patient's profile.

Option 3: Add a Medication from Your Favourites to a Patient's Profile

Use this option when you want to add a previously saved favourite to a patient's profile.

  1. Open the patient's profile and select the Medications tab.
  2. Click the down arrow to the right of the + Add Medication button.
  3. Select ⭐ My Favourites.
  4. Click the + next to the medication you want to add.

  1. Review the pre-filled details in the modal and adjust anything as needed.
  2. Click Add.

What to Expect

The medication is added to the patient's Medications tab. The My Favourites panel stays open so you can add multiple medications in one session.

Important Notes

  • Your favourites list is personal to you and accessible from any patient's profile. Other staff members can't see or access your list.
  • Medications can't be deleted from a patient's profile once added. If a medication is no longer active, update the status to Inactive instead.
  • Editing or removing a favourite from your list doesn't affect medications already added to patient profiles.
  • To edit a favourite's details, open the My Favourites panel, find the medication, and select the pencil icon.
  • To remove a favourite from your list, open the My Favourites panel and click the star icon next to the medication. This permanently removes it from your list and can't be undone.
