Getting Started

Before you can add medications to a patient's profile, Medication Management must be enabled in your Jane settings. Check out our guide on How to Enable Medication Management if you haven't done that yet.

Instructions

To add a medication to a patient's profile, follow these steps. Once added, the medication appears on the patient's Medications tab and can be included in chart entries.

  1. Open the patient's profile.
  2. Select the Medications tab.
  3. Click + Add Medication.

  1. Enter the medication details. You can include any of the following:
    • Medication name (required)
    • Dosage (strength, e.g., 10 mg)
    • Dose form (e.g., tablet, capsule, liquid)
    • Route (e.g., oral)
    • Total quantity (e.g., 30)
    • Frequency (e.g., once daily)
    • Status (required): Active or Inactive
    • Source: Patient-reported, External provider, or Clinic practitioner
    • Start date and end date
    • Instructions
    • Save to favourites

🩵 Jane Tip: If you add certain medications regularly, consider saving them to your favourites list while you're creating them. If you've already added a medication to a patient's profile and want to save it as a favourite, you'll need to re-enter it directly in your favourites list. Check out our guide on How to Use Medication Favourites for more info.

  1. Click Add.

What to Expect

The medication appears in the patient's Medications tab. You can view it at any time by returning to the tab.

📣 Heads up: Medications cannot be deleted from a patient's profile once added. If a medication is no longer active, update the status to Inactive instead.
