Welcome to our beta guide for Treatment Add-Ons. At this stage, Add-Ons can be created and applied to treatments administratively to upgrade and add additional services. We’re working on making Add-Ons available for patients or clients to book online, so stay tuned.
Creating a Treatment Add-On
To start, head to Settings, select Treatment Add-Ons from the menu to the left, and click New Treatment Add-On.
You can fill in the required fields here, including the length of the Add-On in minutes.
Next, you can decide which treatments the Add-On can be applied to. Click Expand next to a discipline and then either select all treatments in that discipline or just the specific ones you’d like to link.
Once you’re finished, click Create Treatment Add-On at the bottom and you’re ready to go!
Booking a Treatment Add-On
💡 Jane tip: Currently, Treatment Add-Ons can only be booked administratively.
Hop over to the schedule and select the time and treatment you’d like to book. On the New Appointment panel to the right, you’ll see a blue Add-Ons button if the treatment you’ve selected has been linked to any Add-Ons.
Select one or more Add-Ons and then continue to book the appointment as usual.
📣 Jane tip: Add-Ons behave like treatment modifications, so if the base treatment an add-on is applied to is eligible for a package or membership, then the Add-On and the base treatment will both be covered by the Package or Membership.
The patient’s invoice will show the Add-On and its cost in the Details section.
Insurance for appointments with Add-Ons
You can add an insurance policy to an appointment as normal and Jane will treat the base treatment and the Add-On as one treatment. This means that if the insurance policy covers 80% of the appointment, and the base treatment plus the Add-On comes to $100, then the insurance will cover $80.

Is this feature limited to certain plans or geographies?
Nope! Any Jane users on any plan in any location can use Add-Ons.
Can patients book Add-Ons themselves online?
Not at this stage, but this is something we are actively working on.
Will patients receive separate appointment reminders for their base treatment and their add-ons?
No, patients will receive a consolidated appointment reminder that will include the information for both the base treatment and any add-ons.
Can you add multiple Add-Ons to an appointment?
Yes, you can add as many as you like, though we recommend a limit of five Add-Ons per appointment so that patients won’t have a complicated Online Booking experience when this feature becomes available for them to use.
Can you apply an Add-On to a Class or Group Appointment?
No, these are the only two treatment types that Add-Ons cannot be applied to.
Can you apply Add-Ons to an Online Appointment?
Yes, you can apply Add-Ons to 1:1 Online Appointments.
Will Add-Ons be listed on a patient’s receipt or invoice?
Yes, the Add-On’s name and price will be listed on receipts and invoices.
When should I use an Add-On vs. a Product?
Great question! We have a couple of examples to help you decide whether an Add-On or Product is more appropriate:
Example #1: If it’s a product that a professional will administer, like PRP, Exosomes, or Injections, then these can be created as both Add-Ons and Products.
The Add-On allows for extra time to be added to the base appointment. The Product allows the cost and number or amount of the product used to be added to the base appointment. It also means that the inventory of the product will be tracked.
Example #2: A consumer product like Acupuncture oils can be created as a Product only.
How do Add-Ons behave with Advanced Scheduling features like Tags or Resources?
Add-Ons behave like treatment modifications, so they will not alter how the base treatment interacts with Tags or Resources.
How do Add-Ons work with Packages or Memberships?
Add-Ons behave like treatment modifications, so if the base treatment an add-on is applied to is eligible for a package or membership, then the Add-On and the base treatment will both be covered by the Package or Membership.
How do Add-Ons work with treatment time vs. post-treatment time?
Jane will block off your schedule for the length of your base treatment and its post-treatment time, plus the length of your Add-On(s).
For example, if you book a 30-minute massage with 15 minutes of post-treatment time and you apply an Add-On for hot stones that lasts 15 minutes, then Jane will block off your schedule for an hour.
Will Add-Ons show up in any of my reports?
Add-Ons won’t show up on any of your reports just yet, but we’re actively working on this.
