Instructions
To test a workflow from the patient's perspective or try out a staff-side task without affecting real patient data, enable the Test Patient profile. Once enabled, Jane generates a username and password you can use to log in as the patient right away.
Enable the Test Patient Profile
- Go to Settings > Test Patient.
- Click the Enable test patient toggle.
Log In as the Test Patient
- In the Account information section, copy Ted Test's Username and Password.
- Go to your clinic's online booking site.
- Log in using the Username and Password you copied.
🩵 Jane Tip: Click Open Ted Test's profile from the Account information section to add an email address or opt Ted Test into SMS and email reminders, so you can preview those from the patient's side too.
Disable the Test Patient Profile
📣 Heads up: Disabling the Test Patient profile permanently deletes all data tied to Ted Test's profile. This can't be undone, and re-enabling the profile starts you with an empty profile rather than restoring the previous data.
- Go to Settings > Test Patient.
- Click the Enable test patient toggle to turn it off.
What to Expect
- Any appointments, charts, or other data created using Ted Test's profile appear in your schedule and reports while the profile is enabled.
- Once disabled, all data tied to Ted Test's profile is permanently deleted and Ted Test no longer appears in your schedule or reports.
- Re-enabling or resetting the profile generates a new username and password and starts Ted Test with an empty profile.
Important Notes
- More than one staff member can use the Test Patient profile at the same time. If another staff member disables the profile while you're using it, you're returned to the clinic's login screen and need to re-enable the profile to continue.
- The Test Patient profile can't use Jane Payments features. If your clinic requires a card, deposit, or payment upfront for online booking, see Modifying a Specific Patient's Payment Policy in our guide on Collecting Payments During Online Booking to exempt Ted Test from that policy.
