Here’s what we know about moving over from Unified Practice to Jane.

What can you expect?

We’ve seen clinics export their Patients, Appointments and Chart Notes & Files from Unified Practice. Below we’ll go into step-by-step instructions on how to export your data for when you’re ready to make the switch to Jane.

✨ If you want charts imported, you should be able to export all your importable data at once by contacting Unified Practice and asking for both a Chart Export and a Calendar Export.

What can we import?

Exporting your Charts from Unified Practice

From what we’ve seen, Unified Practice will perform a chart export for you free of charge. These chart notes will be exported in PDF format which is one of our preferred file types for importing chart notes. You’ll want to Contact Unified Practice directly to request this export and while you’re at it, it’s a great idea to also request a “Calendar Export” for your Appointments as detailed below.

💡 A Note about Chart Exports

The Unified Practice Chart Export includes a nicely detailed Patient List which means you won’t have to export your Patients separately.

Exporting your Unified Practice Appointments

The ideal appointment file to import into Jane is the “Calendar Export” which you’ll want to contact Unified Practice to request. This file should come as an Excel (.xlsx) file and contains all the detail we need to get your schedule up and running with Jane.

Exporting your Patients from Unified Practice

If you plan to export your charts from Unified Practice, there’s a nicely detailed patient list already included in the chart export Unified Practice provides. If you’re not importing charts you’ll want to follow the steps below as outlined in Unified Practice’s helpful guide on Exporting Patients and Other Reports:

  • First click on Reports
  • Next click on Patient Summary
  • Then press the Export button in the upper right-hand corner of the screen to export this report to CSV file.

Note: This report does not seem to indicate the Active vs. Inactive status for the Client List. If necessary, this is something you’ll want to adjust administratively after your import.

Unified Practice Billing Data

We don’t import billing information as there are formatting issues between the two systems, but we can show you how to manually transition your patient credits and receivables into Jane.

Uploading into Jane

To ensure that your data is uploaded to the correct account, and for security reasons, we do not accept patient data via email. You can upload the files to us in the Settings > Import Data area.

You can find an overview of this process here: Scheduling Your Import
