FAQs

Enabling & Accessing Jane Practitioner Search

How can patients find and access Jane’s Practitioner Search?

They can find this by navigating to https://discover.jane.app/.

If you’d like, you can also share this URL directly to your patients, either through email reminders, your online booking page or other ways you reach out to your patients! Here’s how you can customize some of those pieces:

❗️ The full patient experience will launch later in October 2025, so don’t be surprised if you aren’t able to see things on the platform just yet!

Which disciplines are searchable in Jane’s Practitioner Search? When will all disciplines be available?

We’re starting with chiropractic care, massage therapy, physiotherapy and acupuncture, as found under the Disciplines category in your Settings tabs, as these disciplines see the most “last minute” bookings (within 7 days). While there are plans to expand to other disciplines after this beta, we’ll be focusing on these 4 initially to ensure that we get the experience right.

How do we assign practitioner disciplines?

This can be set and edited in your Jane account, under Settings > Disciplines. Jane’s Practitioner Search will utilize the Category to assign practitioners to a discipline.

In case it’s helpful, we’ve got a walkthrough on creating and editing Disciplines you’re able to reference: Disciplines

Why am I not appearing on the map?

There are a couple of reasons as to why you and/or your practitioners aren’t showing up on the map.

If you run into any of the reasons listed below and make the appropriate updates to fix things, it will take up to 3 hours for your saved changed to be reflected in the Practitioner Search website.

If all of these are in place, you should be able to see your clinic in the Practitioner Search!

You can also use the search bar where the location is listed to type in a region, street name, or exact address to see your listing.

  • Troubleshooting your online booking settings:
    • If we’ve confirmed eligibility and you’re still not showing up, the Account Owner or those with Full Access will want to refresh & resave your location details under Settings > Locations:

Do only practitioners that have online booking enabled appear in search results?

That’s right! If a practitioner doesn’t want to be discoverable on Jane’s Practitioner Search, you’ll have want to disable their online booking availability under Staff > Online Booking > uncheck ‘Enable Online Booking’.

Once the Account Owner or someone with Full Access has opted the clinic into the Practitioner Search, they’ll also be able to adjust which practitioners (under an eligible discipline) can be discoverable in Jane’s Practitioner search.

Who can enable or disable Jane’s Practitioner Search for my entire clinic?

Full Access users and Account Owners can enable/disable the feature in Settings > Practitioner Search. When enabled, you’ll see a menu to select eligible practitioners and assign their initial treatment.

When Enable Practitioner Search is turned on, you’ll see a practitioner-specific opt-in menu appear showing practitioners with eligible disciplines to be turned on in the Jane Practitioner Search. Practitioners with ineligible disciplines will be greyed out.

Practitioners have the ability to select what they would like to display as their Initial Treatment offering, and in turn the availability of that treatment, in the Practitioner Search.

By enabling practitioners, their profile will pop-up in Jane’s Practitioner Search if they have availability bookable online. Don’t forget to click Save once finished!

Can practitioners control their own participation in Jane’s Practitioner Search?

Yes! Practitioners with Practitioner/Front Desk or Practitioner (Limited) access can opt in or out by going to Staff Profile > Edit/Settings > Practitioner Search.

What about setting initial treatments for practitioners?

Full Access users, Account Owners and enabled practitioners who are on Practitioner/Front Desk or Practitioner (Limited) access levels can set their own initial treatment offering. For example, if you’d like new patients to book a 60 min session versus a shorter session to all appropriate times for a first visit, you can choose your preferred session to have with new patients.

This can be found under Settings > Practitioner Search:

Booking Availability & Customizations

How are results sorted and prioritized?

After patients select the discipline they are seeking treatment for, the search results will appear based on geographical distance from their inputted address.

Patients would then have the option to filter further by availability; either availability for the same day, the day after or within a week.

From there, similar to Google and Apple Maps, if the map is dragged around, the search results will update based on the centre of the map.

If multiple practitioners offer the same service at a clinic, their order is random.

How are you generating which times I’m available? Is this for all my treatments?

The times available will be based on whichever treatment you’d like to display in Jane’s Practitioner search, [specified by the Account Owner or a Full Access user in the Practitioner Search settings]( What about setting initial treatments for practitioners?). Those that have limited access as a staff member can also adjust this in their Staff profile, under Practitioner Search.

We’d recommend to setting this to be your initial treatment, whether that’s a consult or visit type a patient should book when first seeing you. If you don’t have a bookable treatment like that, we’d recommend your sessions that are 60 minutes long, or your most frequently booked appointment type by new patients.

How can I edit the description for my profile?

To update your bio, navigate to the Staff Profile section, click Edit/Settings or Edit, and select the Photo & Bio tab. From there, you can edit the description for your profile that will appear in your online booking page, and the Practitioner search for clients to view.

Will I know if a patient books with me through the Practitioner Search?

When patients book with you through Jane’s Practitioner Search, they will be redirected to your Online Booking site. With that in mind, any booking, cancellation, and rescheduling notifications will follow the notifications preferences you’ve set up on your Staff profile.

In case you need to update these preferences:

  • Navigate to the Staff Profile section
  • Click on Edit/Settings or Edit
  • Click on Settings > Notification Preferences.

You’ll be able to see if a patient booked through Practitioner Search by hovering over the cloud icon on their appointment, or by selecting the appointment and checking the Booking Info in the side panel:

If you prefer to find this information through Jane’s reports, you’ll be able to find this in the Appointments Report. Heads up that you would need to Export the report to find this information.

FAQ’s

Who is the Practitioner Search best for?

Jane’s Practitioner Search is perfect for clinics wanting to fill their last-minute openings. It gives patients a simple way to find and book same-day appointments without calling multiple clinics. This connects people seeking trusted care directly with clinics who have immediate availability.

I changed my account information (e.g. bio). Why aren’t I seeing that reflected in the Jane Practitioner Search?

Jane’s Practitioner Search updates every 3 hours, so it may take some time for updates to populate.

When will Jane’s Practitioner Search be available in my city?

We’ve been offering Practitioner Search as a pilot since June 2025, starting with clinics in Squamish, B.C. that provide chiropractic care, massage therapy, physiotherapy, or acupuncture. Right now, it’s available for those in these supported disciplines and locations.

We’re planning to expand to more clinics on the Vancouver North Shore this October, and with their input, we’ll continue refining the experience.

From there, we’ll begin planning for a broader rollout — with the goal of supporting clinics across Canada in 2026 (within the same disciplines).

If my clinic has multiple locations, will I still be able to use Jane Practitioner Search?

If your clinic is located in one of our supported geographies (Squamish and Vancouver’s North Shore, B.C.), you’ll be able to utilize Jane’s Practitioner Search! If one of the locations of your business is outside of our supported geographies, you’ll still be able to enable the feature in your practice, but patients in that geography won’t be able to make use of Jane’s Practitioner Search until we’re able to support that area.

Does a patient need to be logged into their My Account page?

No, they don’t! They can look for last minute openings around their area simply by visiting the Jane Practitioner Search site, no login required.

I want to appear on the map, but I operate a virtual practice/ mobile practice and use my home address. Can I turn off my address but still be discoverable?

Right now, Jane’s Practitioner Search is designed for those practicing manual therapy, like acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, and physiotherapy. If you run a virtual or mobile-only manual therapy practice, you can still opt in — just a quick heads up that your location will appear as a pin on the map.

We know that’s not perfect, especially for practices without a fixed location. We’re actively working on ways to better support filtering for virtual and mobile clinics. More to come there — and we’ll keep you in the loop!

Is there a cost to being a part of the Practitioner Search?

No, it’s completely free! If you have a Jane subscription with online booking (Practice or Thrive plans), you can use Practitioner Search at no extra cost. However, clinics on the Balance plan won’t be able to utilize this feature since it requires online booking.

I’m concerned - will Jane’s Practitioner Search put my clinic in competition with others?

Jane’s Practitioner Search is a patient-first, community-focused offering designed to enhance access to care, by helping patients find and book last-minute local appointments. In collaboration with clinics like yourselves, it’s a simple and evolving product that supports—not competes with—your practice, by connecting patients with available care in their own community.

Are you planning on adding reviews?

We have gotten a lot of feedback around the value of reviews and, while it’s something we’re considering, there are no plans to add them at the moment.

How can I submit feedback?

Feedback can be submitted here.

You or your patients can also share feedback by clicking the three dots next to the Jane logo while browsing openings in Jane’s Practitioner Search. Just open the menu and select Leave feedback.
