What is the Jane Guide sidekick?
The Jane Guide Sidekick is an AI-powered assistant that answers your questions by searching through all of Jane’s guides. It saves you the effort of searching through multiple guides so you can spend more time helping your patients of clients.
We know there are a lot of guides to look through when you’re trying to learn something new in Jane, so we hope this gets you the info you need much quicker. And, of course, this tool isn’t meant to replace our human support. If you don’t get the answer you need or you just feel like chatting with us, you can always shoot us an email, give us a call, or start a chat with our team. 💙
How to use the Jane Guide Sidekick
On the admin side of your Jane account, click on the Need Help button in the top menu, just like you would have before to search our guide. There will now be an announcement at the top of Need Help, and a button to click to open up the tool:
A window will pop up on the right-hand side of your screen, and you will see some guide recommendations right off the bat if you want to take a peek. Clicking on any of those recommendations will open the guide right there in that same window for you.
Next, type your question into the search bar at the top. If you’d like to search through our guides directly, hit enter. As a reminder, you will be able to click into any guide and read through it right within your Jane account.
If you’d like to try out the AI assistant instead, click on the Ask AI button to the right of the search bar.
Wait for the AI assistant to reply to you with an answer and voila!

Where do the answers come from?
The Sidekick uses Jane’s guides (like the one you’re reading right now 😉) to find answers to your questions. This is knowledge created by our team, for our customers. This isn’t an AI chatbot (like ChatGPT), this is Jane-only information. While you can ask it a Jane question like “How do I create a Shift?” it won’t be able to answer questions like “Why is the sky blue?”.
Because the Sidekick can only access our publicly available guides, it doesn’t have access to any Protected Health Information (PHI) within your Jane Account. So it can’t answer a question like “Does patient #65 have an outstanding balance?” but it can find a guide on how to investigate outstanding balances.
How accurate is it?
With our initial testing period, we’ve seen an accuracy rate of over 90% and growing! However, as with any new technology, we acknowledge that there will be some instances where the AI is not able to generate the answer to your question or may offer an answer that could be improved upon.
In those cases, you can provide us with feedback on the answer you received by giving it a thumbs-down or a thumbs-up if it was a great one! Who doesn’t like a bit of good feedback now and again?
Will the Jane Guide Sidekick touch patient data at all?
Nope — the information the Sidekick uses to find answers comes exclusively from our Jane Guides and will not have access to any of your patient data or PHI.
Can we opt out?
Absolutely — while we believe this tool can benefit all of our customers, if you’re not loving it, you aren’t locked into using it. With the permission of the listed Account Owner, a member of our support team can turn this feature off for you.
With that said, we’d love to hear more about what you loved or didn’t love about your experience with using the AI tool and why you decided to turn this feature off.
