Is AI Scribe Free enabled for my profile?
The quickest way to check is to go to a patient’s Chart tab from their profile or your Day View.
Click New Chart Entry. If you have access to AI Scribe Free, you’ll see the Smart SOAP Note in the drop-down menu.
If you don’t see the Smart SOAP Note chart part, you don’t have access to AI Scribe Free. You will also see an invitation to Get access to AI Scribe Free in the dropdown menu.
How to grant or remove a staff member’s access to AI Scribe Free
A Full Access user can grant or remove a staff member’s access to AI Scribe Free.
1. Click Settings > AI Scribe.
2. Scroll down to the list of staff and click the drop-down menu in their Subscription column.
3. Choose the access level. The options are:
- None: No access to AI Scribe
- Free: Limited access to AI Scribe (5 notes per month)
- Unlimited: Unlimited Access to AI Scribe for $15 per month per practitioner
4. Click the Save button and then click Confirm Changes.
The staff member’s subscription has been updated.
How to request AI Scribe Free
If AI Scribe Free is not enabled on your profile, and you are not a Full Access User, you can request access.
1. In a patient’s Chart tab, click New Chart Entry.
2. Click Get Access in the drop-down menu.
Click the blue Request Access button, and Full Access users will receive an email letting them know you’d like to use AI Scribe. From there, they’ll be able to opt you in.

Will I be automatically switched to AI Scribe Unlimited?
No, it’s up to you if you’d like to upgrade. You can take your time using AI Scribe Free to see if you like it. If you decide it’s a good fit, a Full Access User can upgrade you to AI Scribe Unlimited anytime. We won’t make the switch for you, and there’s no pressure to upgrade.
What happens when I use up my five free notes for the month?
Once you’ve used all your notes for the month, you’ll notice that there’s no more option to record or upload a recording to your Smart SOAP notes.
You can either wait until the next month when your five free notes will replenish, or you can upgrade to AI Scribe Unlimited.
How do I know how many notes I’ve used?
You’ll see a counter of how many notes you’ve used when you click the microphone icon on a Smart SOAP Note (this is the chart part that AI Scribe works with). Learn more in our guide.
If my upload is cancelled or fails, does that still count towards my five notes per month?
No, a cancelled or failed upload won’t count towards your five notes a month. We want you to get the most out of AI Scribe Free and get a good sense of how it can help with your charting, so only successfully generated notes will count towards your total.
Do my five notes per month refresh 30 days after I opt in, or do they refresh every calendar month?
