Jane’s AI Principles and Our Promise to You

Transparency you can trust

We use AI throughout Jane to help your clinic run smoothly. You’ll always know which features are AI-powered, so you can understand how they work and decide how you want to engage with them.

We’ll continue to ensure our AI features meet key privacy and security standards, including HIPAA and PIPEDA compliance.

Your clinic and patient data is never used to train AI models. We use pre-trained models only, which means the AI is never trained on anything in your Jane account.

AI as your assistant, not your authority

Jane’s AI features are designed to support your clinical expertise, not replace it. For features that generate suggestions, like documentation drafts or billing recommendations, you’ll always have the opportunity to review, modify, accept, or reject.

For features that can take action on your behalf, we use a simple framework to determine the right level of oversight:

• What’s at stake? Actions involving patient health information, clinical decisions, or financial transactions will default to human involvement, whereas routine administrative tasks may not.
• Can it be undone? Reversible actions (like drafting a message) can move faster than irreversible ones (like sending it).
• How urgent is it? Time-sensitive situations, like a patient trying to book a routine appointment after hours, may warrant more autonomy than tasks that can wait for your review.

This framework guides how we design every AI feature at Jane. When you enable a feature, we’ll be clear about what actions it can take and when it will ask for your confirmation.

AI capabilities are advancing rapidly, and we’re committed to staying ahead of the curve—not just keeping up. We invest in best-in-class safety and security practices as we develop AI features, and we actively monitor emerging standards, evolving compliance requirements, and feedback from Jane clinics to ensure our approach remains both responsible, ethical and genuinely helpful.
