Viewing archived secure message threads

Once Secure Messaging is disabled for a patient, their secure message threads are archived. You can still view archived threads at any time.

  1. Go to the patient's profile.
  2. In the Secure Messaging section, click the three dots.
  3. Select View Archived.

Re-enabling Secure Messaging for a patient

  1. Go to the patient's profile.
  2. In the Secure Messaging section, click the three dots.
  3. Select Enable Messaging.

What to Expect

Once Secure Messaging is disabled for a patient, their secure message threads become read-only. Neither you nor the patient can send new secure messages, but both parties can still view the conversation history. The patient will no longer see the option to send a secure message from their My Account patient portal or the Jane mobile app.

When Secure Messaging is re-enabled for a patient, their threads become active again and both parties can send new secure messages.

Important Notes

  • Disabling Secure Messaging for a patient does not delete their secure message threads. Threads are archived and remain viewable.
  • This setting only affects the individual patient. To disable Secure Messaging for your entire clinic, see our guide on How to Enable or Disable Secure Messaging.
  • If patients are allowed to start conversations, disabling Secure Messaging for a specific patient also removes their ability to initiate new conversations.
