The Secure Messaging Patient Guidelines is the message patients see at the top of every new secure message thread. A Full Access user can customize this message. It’s a good way to set clear expectations upfront, like the typical response time or what kinds of questions are best sent through this channel.
Instructions
- Go to Settings > Messaging.
- In the Preferences area, update the text in the guidelines text field.
- Click Update.
🩵 Jane Tip: If you'd like to revert to the original message, click Reset to default.
What to Expect
Your updated guidelines appear at the top of every new secure message thread. Patients see this message when they start a new conversation, at the top of each thread, and in the email notification they receive when a new message arrives.
Important Notes
- There is a 300-character limit for the Patient Guidelines message
- This is a clinic-wide setting. It cannot be customized at the staff level
- Updates only apply to new conversations going forward
