Here’s what Jane Payroll can help you do:
- Pay employees and contractors directly through Jane
- Automatically generate year-end forms (T4s and T4As)
- Let your team view pay stubs and year-end forms in their staff profiles
- Automatically file your CRA payroll remittances, including income tax, CPP, and EI

Getting access to Jane Payroll
Jane Payroll is currently in early access (beta) for a small group of clinics across Canada (not including Quebec). That means we’re inviting a limited number of clinics to use the feature while we continue testing and refining it with their feedback.
If you’d like to get access to Jane Payroll, you can join our waitlist. We’ll be inviting more clinics from the waitlist as we expand.
We’re planning to bring Jane Payroll to the US later on, but for now, we’re starting with Canadian clinics while we improve on this feature.

How can I access Jane Payroll?
The first step is adding your clinic to the waitlist. As we roll out to each province, our team will reach out to clinics on the waitlist to help them get started.
Do I need a specific Jane subscription to use this feature?
Yes, Jane Payroll is a paid add-on available for clinics on our Thrive and Practice plans, and any of our legacy subscription plans (e.g. the Base Plan).
Do I have to switch my whole team over at the same time?
Yes, we recommend moving your whole team over at the same time. Although it’s technically possible to use two different payroll systems, it can create a lot of headaches for you and your team. Running payroll in two systems can lead to duplicate CRA remittances, mismatched records, and extra work at year-end. You can start by paying contractors later if you’d like, but all employees should move over together.
Can I switch to Jane Payroll mid-tax year?
Yes, you can. You’ll just need to migrate your year-to-date payroll information from your previous software so that Jane has everything needed to calculate deductions and issue year-end forms correctly. Our team will help guide you through that process.
How much does Jane Payroll cost?
During the early access period, Jane Payroll is priced at $40 CAD per month as a base fee, plus $6 CAD per active staff member on payroll.
Once Jane Payroll leaves early access and becomes generally available, pricing may look a little different as we learn more from our early clinics. That said, we know switching payroll systems is a big decision, so our goal is to keep things consistent and fair for the clinics who start with us early.
There are no long-term commitments, meaning you can cancel anytime, and our team will be here to help you transition if you ever decide Jane Payroll isn’t the right fit for your clinic.
You’ll only be charged once you run your first payroll, and charges appear on your regular Jane subscription invoice. There are no setup, migration, or year-end fees.
Are there any other fees beyond the base cost?
There are no extra fees for setup, data migration, or year-end forms. The only potential extra cost is a pass-through fee if a payroll payment fails due to insufficient funds.
How does staff billing work?
You’re only charged for staff who are currently on payroll. If someone leaves your clinic, you’ll no longer be billed for them after they are removed from payroll. Any staff in your Jane account who aren’t on payroll don’t count toward your monthly total.
When will I be billed?
You’ll only be billed after running your first payroll. After that, payroll charges are added to your regular Jane invoice each month.
How does payroll timing work?
All clinics start on a four-business-day processing window by default. For example, if you need your team paid on a Friday, you’ll need to process payroll by that Monday at 3 p.m. PT. Be sure to factor in weekends and statutory holidays, since banks don’t process payments on those days. If a four-day window doesn’t work for your clinic, reach out to us. We can sometimes switch you to a two-day schedule instead.
Does Jane handle all remittances?
Jane automatically files your federal payroll remittances to the CRA (income tax, CPP, and EI). Any additional provincial requirements, such as WCB or other local payroll programs, need to be handled directly by your clinic.
What happens at year-end?
Jane automatically generates and files T4s and T4As for all staff paid through Jane Payroll before the CRA’s end-of-February deadline. Staff can access their own forms in their Jane accounts, while account owners and payroll admins can access all staff forms in Billing → Payroll → Documents.
Can I pay both employees and contractors?
Yes. Jane Payroll supports both employee and contractor pay, which makes it especially helpful for health and wellness clinics that have a mix of both.
Does Jane automatically pull information from reports like Compensation or Timesheets?
Not yet. Jane Payroll doesn’t automatically pull pay details from the Compensation report or Timesheets. You’ll need to type in your team’s gross pay when running payroll. We’re working toward making this process feel more integrated and seamless in the future, so calculating and running payroll in Jane feels like one smooth workflow.
What types of pay does Jane Payroll support?
Jane Payroll is designed to be flexible. Whether your staff are salaried, paid hourly, on commission, or use a mix of these structures, Jane can handle it. You can set up different pay types and customize how each group of staff is paid, or mix and match across your team if needed.
Can Jane help me track benefits and time off?
Yes. Jane helps you track both vacation pay and vacation time. You can set up policies to accrue or pay out vacation pay automatically, and track time off balances directly in Jane.
