Choose How to Post Insurer Payments

The way you post insurer payments depends on how the insurer sends remittances.

📣 Heads up: Post each payment one way only, electronically or manually. Do not use both methods for the same payment.

If your insurer sends… Post payments…
Electronic remittances (ERAs) Automatically in Billing > Remittances
Paper remittances Manually in Billing > Insurer Invoices > New Payment

Post Payments From ERAs

When an insurer sends electronic remittances (ERAs), post payments electronically in the Remittances folder.

Post Payments From Paper Remittances

When an insurer only provides paper remittances and you don’t have an ERA, post payments manually in Billing > Insurer Invoices > New Payment.

Manage Insurer Payments

All payments received from insurers are managed in the Billing tab.

Open an Insurer’s Billing Page

  1. Click Billing > scroll down to the Insurer Invoices section on the left.
  2. Click the insurer’s name to see all billing information for that insurer.

Here are what the different tabs mean in this area:

Tab What it shows
Purchases All invoices for this insurer. Use the filters at the top of the page to narrow the list.
Payments All payments recorded from this insurer.
Insurance Policies Every patient who has an insurance policy set up under this insurer.
