Saving credit cards from the Jane Payments Terminal

💡This feature is available for Jane Payments users in 🇨🇦 Canada and 🇺🇸 the US and requires a Jane Payments Terminal. If you’re not signed up yet, you can learn more about Jane Payments and get all set up when you’re ready!

With this feature, clinics can optionally save a credit card on file when a client taps, swipes, or inserts their card into the Jane Payments Terminal. This information can be captured quickly during a transaction, or through a client’s profile. Clinics can then easily charge contactless payments after a session, and start billing automatic recurring memberships right away. 💰

There are two ways to add a card on file using the Jane Payments Terminal. But first you’ll want to enable this feature by heading over to Settings > Jane Payments > Manage All Terminals > Pencil > Toggle on Save Cards > Save Changes.

Save credit card information during a transaction

Start the checkout process as normal by clicking any blue Pay button, such as the one at the top of the appointment panel.

You can also receive a payment from a couple of different areas within a client profile.

From the first Receive Payment screen, you’ll select the invoice(s) your client would like to pay for and choose the Terminal as the payment method.

To capture your client’s credit card information using this Terminal, click the “save the card to their account” box.

Checking this box means that you have asked your client for permission to save their credit card information to their account for future payments.

Then, click one of the three Pay buttons, and the Terminal will prompt your client to insert, swipe or tap their card. It’s at this point that their credit card information will be securely saved on their account. 🎉


Save credit card information from a client’s profile

Start by heading to the client’s profile > Billing > Credit Cards > Add Credit Card.

Next, click Save Card Through Terminal.

Jane will then set up the Terminal to collect your client’s credit card information and let you know when it’s time to ask your client to insert, swipe or tap their card. It’s at this point their credit card information will be securely saved on file. 🥳

Prior to processing, you’ll want to make sure to ask your client for permission to save their card to their account (as they will not receive any notification about the change).


FAQ


If my client already has a credit card on file, will they still have the option to add one at checkout?

Yes, if you’ve selected the option to save a card on their account administratively, your client will be prompted to add a credit card even if they already have one saved on file. This functionality helps make the process of adding a new credit card as smooth as can be.


Yes! You’ll want to ask for your client’s consent at the time of payment, and you’ll be required to click a box in Jane to confirm that you have.
