Jane's Guide Here's all the help you need to use Jane.

Step 2: Unboxing and linking your Jane Payments Terminal

If you haven’t signed up for Jane Payments yet, you’ll want to do that before you order and set up your terminal.

The Jane Payments Terminal is available for Jane Payments users in 🇨🇦 Canada and 🇺🇸 the US.

Ordering your Jane Payments Terminal

Alright, let’s start by heading to the Settings > Jane Payments area of your Jane account and clicking the + Add Item button and selecting Order Terminal from the dropdown menu.

Then, enter your shipping details. Jane will let you know that the terminal costs $279 CAD + applicable taxes and shipping for Canadian users or $239 USD + applicable taxes and shipping for customers in the US, and you’ll be prompted to enter your payment info.

Once ordered, your terminal should arrive within 2-5 business days.

Let’s get your Jane Payments Terminal set up!

Open the box, and make sure the three pieces are in there: Terminal, battery & cable.

First up - install the battery. With the back of the device facing you, lift up from the indentation at the bottom left corner to detach the back cover. Insert the battery by sliding it into the exposed slot with the gold connectors at the top aligned and the warning label facing out.

Next, charge the reader by using an outlet (not a laptop or computer). Connect the terminal to power by plugging the provided cable into the port with the lightning bolt symbol. After the reader is charged, hold down the power button on the right-hand side until the screen turns on.

Note📝: The Jane Payments Terminal does not come with a USB charging port and the headphone jack (the hole) on the side of the terminal has no specific use and is non-functional.

You’ll be prompted to connect to your Wi-Fi. When connecting your terminal, you’ll need to ensure that your Wi-Fi networks use WPA/WPA2/WPA3-Personal or WPA2/WPA3 EAP-PEAP Enterprise encryption and must be password protected. You can choose to tap Back to change your country and language if needed.

📍If your device is connected to the internet via ethernet, you may need to purchase an ethernet dock for your terminal. A member of our Support Team can order the dock, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you would prefer this option.

With your shiny new terminal unboxed and charged in front of you, you can head back to Settings > Jane Payments and click that +Add Item button again. This time, you’ll choose Link Terminal from the dropdown menu.

Now, if your terminal already isn’t showing the three-word pairing code you will:

  • Swipe from left to right to open the menu, and tap Settings
  • Enter the administrative pin: 0 7 1 3 9
  • Tap Generate Pairing Code

Note📝: Currently, there is no option to change the admin pin for the Jane Payments terminal, as it is standardized for all clinics and terminals at the moment.

Great job so far! Now back in Jane, you’ll want to enter that Pairing Code that is displayed on the screen of your Jane Payments Terminal (don’t forget to include-the-hyphens!).

You’ll also want to give the Terminal a label, which we’ll use in and around Jane to reference your Terminal. We’d suggest something like “Front Desk,” or wherever the Terminal will usually live. If you have multiple locations within your Jane account, you’ll also be asked to select which Jane location this terminal lives at.

Finally, click the Register Terminal button, and you’re all set! Time to do your happy dance. 💃
