Jane Payments, powered by Stripe, is Jane’s integrated payment solution that’s designed to help clinics get paid on time and in full. With a unified system, Mountain Sport Clinic can maintain healthy cash flow during their busiest seasons without any additional admin.
When Mountain Sport Clinic, a physiotherapy practice based in British Columbia’s Western Kootenay region, first opened, they began using Jane to manage patient scheduling and online payments. However, in-person payments were processed using a separate terminal that didn’t integrate with Jane.
While processing online patient payments was simple with Jane Payments, powered by Stripe, the third-party terminal added operational friction. The separate system for in-person payments meant extra administrative busywork for both the clinic’s owner and the clinic manager.
Using two payment processors resulted in disjointed reporting, requiring the clinic owner to spend extra administrative time reconciling separate reports—cutting into patient care hours. The process was also complex and required logging into a separate dashboard to pull in-person transactions, then logging into Jane to pull online transactions, and manually combining the data for the clinic’s accountant.
To make matters worse, the in-person payment terminal wasn’t always reliable, and the clinic experienced difficulties getting technical support from the vendor. The terminal sometimes wouldn’t stay charged, and terminal outages that lasted several hours were common.
According to clinic manager Matt Canale, “When the terminal was down, we experienced disruptions to our payment processing capabilities such as delays, duplicate payments and unprocessed transactions. After each issue, I typically needed to spend at least an hour manually double-checking transaction records and contacting patients by phone or email to resolve payment issues.”
As a fix for Mountain Sport Clinic’s payment processing challenges, Jane suggested the clinic switch to the Jane Payments terminal for in-person payments. The new system allowed the clinic to unify payment processing with Jane Payments while delivering more clarity and control with clinic-friendly financial reporting.
Set up was quick and simple, with the clinic using Jane’s self-guided support tools. In a matter of minutes, the new terminal was connected, integrating directly with Mountain Sport Clinic’s existing Jane account. In-person and online transactions now processed through Jane Payments, and all reporting flowed into just one dashboard.
Before fully committing, the clinic wanted to test the new system for a short period and keep its original terminal as backup. But after just a few weeks, Mountain Sport Clinic cancelled its other subscription and switched to the fully unified online and in-person payment experience.
After switching to Jane Payments for in-person transactions, Mountain Sport Clinic no longer has to manage between multiple payment processors or external systems. Jane Payments keeps billing and payments in one connected system that’s intuitive to use from the start. Now, Mountain Sport Clinic can focus on patient care, while patient payments happen smoothly in the background.
Processing all clinic transactions through Jane Payments completely eliminates the need for time-consuming manual reconciliation processes and quickly shows where money is coming in and going out. With one platform, everything is in one place, and there’s no more waiting for reports or reconciling across tools. Payment activity and payout details are visible in real-time from the same system where appointments are managed—reducing administrative overhead and leaving more time for patient care.
Mountain Sport Clinic easily collects patient payments before appointments with Jane Payments. Cards can be stored on file, and patients can pay in person or pay online through the same trusted Jane portal they already use to book appointments. When patients pay ahead of time, it saves the clinic about four hours of administrative time every month. Paying ahead also helps staff make payments less awkward and deliver a more human patient experience.
During peak outdoor recreation seasons, patient volumes surge around 100% due to high injury rates, especially during peak skiing months. Smooth payment processing through Jane Payments helps the clinic easily stay on top of seasonal spikes in payment transactions, without having to worry about equipment disruptions or friction during the checkout experience.
