Hi,
I’ve been reflecting on Jane’s story as we come back from our annual retreat.
When Jane launched in 2014, we were part of a technology revolution. The idea that you could run your entire practice online was new, and a bit uncomfortable for most healthcare practices. I remember having to explain “the cloud” to our early customers, including what we were doing to keep their data safe and make sure that Jane was reliable and accessible.
Today, we’re living through another very exciting and sometimes uncomfortable technology shift. AI is changing what’s possible, and I couldn’t be more excited about the ways in which Jane will be able to expand the amount of support we offer your practices.
We’ve always used the tag line “See Jane Run Your Practice.” And while previously, Jane could offer you tools to use in your practice, you still had to do all the work. Click all the buttons. What I’m looking forward to is the day when you can truly trust Jane to be a complete practice assistant. If we do this well, we will offer you, your team, and your practices all the benefits of AI superpowers, while making sure this new technology is being used in a safe and secure way. A way that matches how your unique practice works. A way that just makes your life simpler.
I was reminiscing with our team about the early days of Jane, back when I was surprised to hear many of our first customers tell us “I love Jane!” You don’t necessarily expect people to tell you that they love software, but that’s the delight bar we continue to pursue today. If we don’t succeed in bringing you AI features and assistants that have you spontaneously telling us that you “love” them, then we haven’t been successful.
AI, the Jane way 💙
You might have heard about tech companies laying off thousands of people as they bring AI into their organizations. Often their human support teams are the first to go. We have a different perspective. We are using AI to superpower our team and free up more time to spend with one another. We’re doubling down on the human aspect of our promise to you (Human, Helpful and Delightful) because never has it been more important.
That extends to the way that we are building AI, too:
-
We build AI that meets privacy and security standards (like HIPAA and PIPEDA) and we actively monitor emerging standards to make sure that stays true.
-
Your clinic and patient data aren’t used to train AI models.
-
We design AI to support your clinical expertise, not replace it. Suggestions are yours to review, modify, accept, or reject.
If you’re curious to learn more, you can find our AI principles published on our website.
What we’re working on
Our first AI tool was built with the goal of helping practitioners spend less time on notes. Since then, we’ve heard from so many of you about the difference that AI Scribe has made, not only in freeing up your evenings and weekends, but in your ability to feel more present with patients and clients. This hits close to home for me. My mom was a physiotherapist who bought her own clinic to have more flexibility raising her kids. She’d see patients all day and then go back to the clinic to do payroll.
We’re working on more AI-powered tools that can make days easier for people like my mom. Tools that can help make your insurance billing more successful, your clinic data easier to understand, and even make sure an incoming call isn’t lost while you’re busy face-to-face with clients. So, we’re not adding AI badges to features that already existed. We’re rethinking what it means to run a healthcare practice, starting with a simple idea: what if Jane could take on even more of the admin, so practitioners could focus even more on the important work they do?
Can’t wait to show you what’s next,
Ali
